Do you remember the year 2000, when 2030 felt like a distant dream? That was over 25 years ago. You're an adult now, apparently.

You grew up with technology developing in your hands. You played Snake on a Samsung flip phone in the back seat of a car on long road trips. You've mourned the loss of Tamagotchi pocket pets from forgetting to feed them since 2003. Having access to a computer at school was a scheduled and dedicated time that felt like teleporting into the future without ever leaving the classroom.

The world has continued to progress at a pace you can't comprehend. You remember being told what the future would look like, and now, you're living in it.

You were told that you could become anything you wanted.

You were told that if you applied yourself, got the job, got the degree and worked hard that a white-picket fence would be waiting for you.

You were told that by 30 years old, you'll be married with a partner and children, own a four-bedroom house in a safe neighbourhood with a spacious backyard and shiny cars parked inside a double-door garage.

You were told that by the time you were an adult, you'd have it all figured out.

You were told that doing what you were told would promise your future.

Without a clear direction, you looked for inspiration from those who dared to deviate from the path.

Teenage millionaires that got their start with a lightbulb idea while writing code in a basement like someone 'breaking into the mainframe' in an early-2000's action movie. 'Entrepreneurs' that sell programs to people who sell programs who coach people that sell programs. Property moguls who used generational wealth to become the perpetually wealthy 'self-starters' they proclaim to be.

But you don't want fame and fortune. You don't want a waterside mansion with a helipad, designer clothes, and a robot butler that secretly hates you.

The future that was promised to you no longer feels available; and the future available to you isn't what you want.

You want a simpler life. You want to work a job that feels meaningful to you, have an affordable and comfortable place to live, be in good physical and mental health, experience love and share your life with someone, spend time with your friends and family, and go on holidays once a year.

You want to live an ordinary life that feels extraordinary.
